What Pride really is about.
Tuesday, June 29, 2010 @ 9:55 PMMaybe in cities like New York, or LA, or San Fran Pride is beautiful and glamourous-like we all, as kids, imagined it to be, while dreaming in our bedrooms stroking feather boas and listening to Judy Garland.
you know something along these lines with gaga playing on each float.
Well here in Chicago, we do things a little differently. These are all real photos from the excruciatingly early, painfully hot, parade of flesh that is chicago pride. When the cta actually has to intervene because a train is full to the point where we look like sweat-covered pigs on the way to slaughter, you know its time to gtfo.
For the record I am aggressively "proud" irl and a huge fighter for all aspects of social equality, i just think being up at 7 am to sweat, stand around, and be sun burnt to see a lot of under age out-of-towners in strings of lycra and rainbow leg warmers isn't worth it to me. p.s. i wish i'd gotten more photos of the puke, but i left at 2pm and there were plenty of ppl passed out in the streets already but the puke hadn't started to flow down the street gutters just yet.
real convo (between me and another jew) about our mothers. LULZ.
jew #1."yea my mom would be really upset if she knew i was here."
#1."yea i told her once before that i came here and she said 'oh that place is filthy."
me."well, i mean she's right. it is filthy, im sure my mom would say something along the lines of ' oh elizabeth you can verbally fight for the cause all day but when it comes to getting out of your house in the morning and dealing with the actual people-forget it.' "
here is me and my family's day of pride. VERY PHOTO HEAVY. CLICK PHOTOS TO ENLARGE.
