eff the iphone, 90's dance.
Saturday, April 10, 2010 @ 10:20 PMSo Iphone, I have some complaints. Lets talk about one right now.
Why, why, WHY can't I create a photo album on the phone itself? Why can't I access the date/time stamp on the phone itself. WHY do I have to do this on the computer. IPHONE I WANT TO DO EVERYTHING ON-THE-GO! THIS IS WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FACILITATE! Why is it that even if I upload into a private album on facebook it automatically posts it in my news feed, even if i specifically check not to? UGHGHGUGHG!
lately my life has involved a lot of 90's house and dance. it is kind of inspirational? I mean how can you look at this stuff and not want all of it 100%
pat said he wanted to "lip sync for his life" to this song. (p.s. that is martha wash singing, with a model pretending to sing. it was kinda a bfd at the time.)
this Real McCoy cd has traveled with pat everywhere for the past week.
Also can we talk for a minute about how so many 90's videos are an awesome mix of new wave/goth factory/oppressive black and white imagery with a spice of urban/diva flare. here are my favorite that apply to this theme.
Rhythm is a dancer- Snap
Take me away-Culture Beat
Another Night-Real Mccoy
And even the big divas jumped on this band wagon.. the BIGGG Divas.
I'm aware that this video was made in 1989 and it could be argued that this is simply the formula that other dance artists were following, but i want to believe that oppression is a constant to the dance community. (pat wanted me cite that perhaps the imagery comes from the obv. influences of early industrial and electronic that of course influence house/dance as a genre, and it can't be denied...blahblahblah....we are academic about everything and are totally lame.)
